The Nordcup as a decentralized cross-country flight competition in the northern lowlands
The idea was to introduce a decentralized cross-country competition in the Northern lowlands in analogy to the Region East-Cup, limited to sites and clubs, where the thermal conditions are comparable. Unfortunately, the general definition of flatland also includes various hilly areas in the east and south, some of which are close to mountain sites.
In addition, this is also intended to further strengthen cooperation / cohesion in the northern club-network. All clubs in the northern network are represented in the Nordcup - plus a few other clubs / sites with comparable conditions in the far north of Germany.
General description
The NordCup is a decentralized paragliding cross-country competition with flights in the northern German lowlands by winch launch for pilots from clubs in the northern region.
These are the clubs from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Bremen and Lower Saxony north of the A2 federal motorway. It is possible to fly from all approved winch launch sites of the invited clubs.
In addition, launching is permitted on the Waren - Vielist (MV) airfield. The competition is based on the DHV-XC server. Different equipment classes are adjusted using handicap factors. The competition is organized as a club competition in the DHV-XC.

It is important for everyone who wants to take part to correctly enter the club affiliation on the DHV-XC portal, as the filtering is based on club affiliation as well as the launch site.

Realistic targets for XC at the given wind direction:
A03: Emmeloord (via D08 Beilen), A07: Meppen, A10: Nienburg (via B15 Wildeshausen), A13: Norddeich-Mole
A15: Sappemeer-Oost (via A06 Weener), A16: Zwolle (via B20 Dörpen und B23 Hogeveen), A19: Osnabrück
B08: Stadskanaal (via B07 Bourtange), B13: Wiesmoor, B17: Aurich-Hafen (via B18 Timmeler Meer)
B25: Almelo (via B20 Dörpen), B31: Minden (via B28 Ahlhorn), B34: Tarmstedt (via B37 Vegesack)
Not all XC goals are easy and free of airspace. Generally the thermals will be less high and strong in the North. South of the Dollard one should be careful not to fly north of Weener. B20 Dörpen and B07 Bourtange are important guiding waypoints to avoid the TMA-TMZ Groningen. Likewise B15 Wildeshausen and B37 Vegesack to avoid Bremen airspace. See also our waypoints.

Do you want to be informed, when something new is going on in our club? For interested guests the general list "Flieger" is available, where general information about our flying and activities will be published.
All registrations will be reported to the chairman of our club, but don't let that deter you.
Internal lists
Additional lists for members, winch operators and the clubs board exist and will be automatically administered. If you are a member, then you are on the appropriate lists. As the member- and winch operator list are closed to external emails, please check your sender address. It must match the address you are registered with.
When answering to an email from the list, please check whether you want to reply to the sender or the whole list. You email program may default to the whole list.

Already in 2019 a new TMZ around the military airfield Wittmundhafen (ETNT) was tested. This airspace will unfortunately become permanent in 2020.
Early in 2020 there were extensive discussions about this issue, including also the DHV, representatives of the sailplane pilots and our vice chairman. As a result the TMZ will be established as a TMZ (HX) and will generally not be activated on weekends. Exceptions are to be published in advance via NOTAM.
This will affect us predominantly when flying from Nortmoor with southern winds. It will be essential to check the NOTAMs on the morning of the flight day (e.g. here). It is not yet clear if we can negotiate any exemptions during the week, however this will likely involve monitoring of WTM radar 131.015 MHz on airband radio.
The final responsibility to ensure that the TMZ is not active and that all regulations are followed will rest solely with the pilot.
